Roonga Point Question

Roonga Point Question

by Karen

Hi Katrin,

I've seen some youtube videos and other reviews about free camping at Roonga Point.

However you don't mention this as a free camp spot in the Destination Guide.

Is camping actually permitted there?

Hi Karen,
by: Katrin

There are a lot of videos and other information out there that is incorrect and should never be relied on (some could be old as more areas used to be ok).

The Destination Guide is spot on with what is allowed and is constantly updated.

It states the exact free camping spots that are allowed in the NPA (and the rest of the peninsula), and nothing else is - and all that is not, is usually checked by rangers and will get people in trouble.

Thanks so much. I wanted to check because I don't want to do the wrong thing :) I appreciate your quick response!

Thank you Karen,

Pleasure, and yes, not worth destroying a great holiday over one wrong camping spot. :-)
