Kimba Gamboola Road


Kimba Gamboola Road is in southern central Cape York.

It's a shortcut between the PDR and BDR,



... with the northern end near Kimba,


... and southern in Gamboola.

After leaving Fairview on the PDR,

... you first come past the Palmerville turnoff.

You then cross St George River,

... on a causeway bridge.

... that could be under the water early in the dry season, or after heavy rains.

The next one is Kennedy River,

... and again there is a causeway bridge.

You then pass the turnoff to Kingvale Station,

... and then there is the Kimba turnoff (you turn south to Pinnacle and the rest).

Kimba Gamboola Road to King Junction

The red soil turns white,

... the road is good,

... the soil gradually goes redder,

... and there are a few gates,

... as you first drive through the Pinnacle Station.

... and you are on the land of King Junction Station.

South of King Junction is the turnoff to Strathleven,

You come to Mareeba Shire,

You finally come to the mighty Mitchell,

Late in the dry it is easy to cross,

... but that river is also known to change with unseasonal rains.
