Holloways Beach

Holloways Beach is a lovely suburb north of Cairns.

It is the second southernmost one of Cairns Northern Beaches.

It is a beautiful beach, and considering its proximity to Cairns, you could expect it to be more of a concrete jungle than it is.

Apart from a few large buildings at the beach front, most of it is a quiet, homey residential area.

Holloways beach is not a bad place to stay - there are even regular buses to Cairns, which is only a 10-minutes drive away.

There is a small shopping centre and an IGA supermarket.

There is a beachfront park,

... some accommodation and a resort,

... and a beachfront restaurant.

In the back streets there is a boat ramp into a river that is great for fishing.

The beach is nice and long enough for a proper walk or jog.

In the southern end you can walk at low tide to Machans Beach (there is a creek mouth - try fishing),

... and in the northern end it's a fair walk but you finally get to an Environmental Education Centre,

... and then a creek mouth.

Another great spot for fishing, but watch out for crocodiles.
