Evans Bay

It is south east of the northernmost point of Australia,


... it has a beautiful long beach,


... but there is strictly no camping here.

Track In

The track in starts off through a bit of bush,




... then comes to open vegetation,




... then there is a bit of a climb up through a rocky area,





... past some big termite mounds,




... then descending on the other side of the hill,





... as you get closer to the beach.




Then there is a small rainforest pocket, 





... right before you get to the beach.

Evans Bay Beach

The beach is beautiful,




... very shallow just like the one at the Tip.

Beach Drive South

The beach entrance is closer to the northern end,




... so the beach drive south is longer.

Southern End

In the southern end,





... there is a corner with mangroves,





... and the track goes in, ending up in an open grassy area,



... and there are some beautiful views up the cliffs.




And if you climb even higher up to the ridge,




... you can see to the other side, and you can see the southern end of Ida Island.

Beach Drive North

Drive back to the northern end,




 
... there is a creek, 

Northern End

... and through the mangroves,



... you can cross over the two headlands,



... and there is another, smaller beach, with views over Eborac Island.



From the two headlands,




... there are some magnificient views,





... over the bay between them,





... and over the Tip of Cape York,



... and Yorke and Eborac islands.



Like at the Tip, there are some cairns,




... some beautiful views also to the south, over the bays,




... and the beach of Evans Bay.




In the end it's a bit of a rock climb to get your vehicles back to the beach,




... but so is a lot of the rest of the headland.
