Cape York for wheelies

Cape York for wheelies

by Alison

Hi Katrin,

My husband and I would like to take my father to Cape York but the catch is, he is in a wheelchair.

Fortunately he can walk short distances with a walking stick but I'm concerned he won't be able to make it to the actual Tip.

How far is it from the car park?

How even is the ground?

Thanks

Hi Alison,
by: Katrin

I just added some photos and descriptions of the walk to the page of the Tip of Australia.

As you can see there are a few parts that may be challenging for your dad; and also the walk normally takes about 15-20 minutes but will take longer for him, so whether he is up to the length of it.. but i guess you can give it a go and you can always turn back if it gets too bad. There are rocks to sit on and have a rest, just bring lots of water and avoid the hottest part of the day, then he can take his time. I hope he makes it, it's well worth it!!
