I have been to Cape York several times and the first was in JUNE 1987 when it was a touch raw but interesting.

I took a Toyota troop carrier with NO snorkel,
and standard rims and tyres !

I ended up coming back by plane from the Bamaga airport, as I dunked it in the jardine swamps and bent two con rods but got it back to bamaga albeit very smoky exhaust and sent it back by Seaswift.

What a fantastic trip though as we saw all of the cape plus T.I. and Horn island.

Back then it was rough but fun and alcohol was not restricted at all, so a drink was good.

The second trip was with two other salesmen by Airswift and spent ten days flying around the islands out from Thursday Island about eight islands were visited, selling motor vehicles to the councils.
