I was in Cape York back in 1973 working for the Bureau of Mineral Resources (BMR)
We were there for six months, at the end of our term we were to leave at the end of October but the wet started early and we were caught out near Iron Range
We waited about 3 weeks in our camp for it to stop but it got worse, we were the 1st camp called each morning by the F Doctor service a welfare check.
They ended up sending a rescue helicopter to get us out, 7 months later they retrieved our vehicles.
So this trip will be the 1st time I have been back since then I am really looking forward to seeing the changes, thank you Bob (Steve) Yelds.
