Cape York News #111 - Season and School Holidays, Road Report, and Coming Events
October 08, 2021

Hi Everyone,

Below is the latest on the tourist season, the conditions of the road, and the coming events.

In This Issue

• Season and School Holidays

• Road Report

• Coming Events

• Feedback Updated

We have just had our September school holidays, which is usually the latest peak of the season.

Sorry that some wrong-doers have made this needing a mention: These newsletters are subject to the Law of Copyright - the only way to legally spread them is a link to this page or a proper Facebook share (cropping text and photos out of it to use them to build one's own Facebook post is ILLEGAL).

It was not as crowded as during the June - July school holidays, but the local businesses still did well with streets and camping grounds fairly busy.

Mark is back from Cairns from his September trip, and he said that the road south of Musgrave was ok, lots of bitumen now.

Coen to Archer was not too bad, mainly because more and more of that section has been sealed as well.

Telegraph Road
(north of Weipa turnoff) was corrugated and bad.

Both south and north Bypass Roads were not good, except the northernmost 13km south of Jardine River which was better than the rest of it.

The events ahead are Cooktown Barra Bash, Cooktown Races, Chillagoe Rodeo and Yarrabah Cultural Festival.

All great fun and worth including in your trip if you are around :-)

I really appreciate any kind of feedback on the Destination Guide.

Please let me know if you enjoyed it while planning before the trip, and while using the information once on the trip.

If you get any questions about anything, please feel welcome to contact me.

That's all for this time - happy planning, and happy travels to those on the road!!

Have a great day :-)
