BIG TOURIST SEASON COMING
Massive tourist season is believed to be coming, with people who missed out last year, plus the ones that cannot travel overseas, added to the normal amount we are used to.
Sorry that some wrong-doers have made this needing a mention: These newsletters are subject to the Law of Copyright - the only way to legally spread them is a link to this page or a proper Facebook share (cropping text and photos out of it to use them to build one's own Facebook post is ILLEGAL).
There is one warning - book early as everything is getting booked out, and some people may get disappointed this year, as they might miss out accommodation, camping spots, tours etc, unless booked in time.
CREB TRACK IS OPEN
Also - CREB Track is open - extremely unusually early to be in this time of the year :-) You should still be aware that being in the Daintree, it is very quickly affected by rains, becomes slippery and dangerous due to its steepness, and if it gets too bad, could easily close again without much warning.
FRESH ROAD REPORT
My partner Mark has just done the second trip down to Cairns, so below is what he said about the road.
Laura to Musgrave (above) had good bits and bad bits, depending on where the grading had been done.
Musgrave to Archer was much the same, and on the above photo is the Archer River water level.
He said that it was wetter from PDR to Wenlock, and above is the Wenlock River water level - under the bridge but still higher than we are used to late in the Dry Season. It was a bit better north of Wenlock but there were still dips to slow down for.
North of Bramwell - Bypass Roads, were better than other parts but still did have some washouts.
Some great events are ahead of us - Cooktown Expo, Laura Dance Festival and the NPA Cultural Festival in Bamaga.
They are the best events on the peninsula so make sure to not to miss out if you are around :-)
A SMALL UPDATE IN THE DESTINATION GUIDE
As promised, there are no updates coming until 2022 that would require you to reprint the Guides.
There was however, one about the Falls Track because it was necessary.
I was so far informed by the Chuulangun people that a permit is required, but I am now getting reports that they are not issuing permits, so that detail got changed in the main Destination Guide.
There are no other changes, so there is no need to update if you have the 2021 Edition, but if you need the latest version (and bought one within the last two years), you are always welcome to send me an email and I will send you the latest one.
If you don't already have the Guide - there will not be any more updates until 2022 - a great time to buy :-)
