LATEST ON THE PDR AND JARDINE FERRY OPENING

The PDR has been getting gradual work and is so far fixed and open until Musgrave, while the section from Musgrave to Weipa, and consequently the Tip, still requires a permit.

Sorry that some wrong-doers have made this needing a mention: These newsletters are subject to the Law of Copyright - the only way to legally spread them is a link to this page or a proper Facebook share (cropping text and photos out of it to use them to build one's own Facebook post is ILLEGAL).

The Jardine River Ferry, which has been closed due to yearly maintenance, is now about to reopen.

As of the end of April, Archer River is still way over the causeway and impassable.

WEATHER AND SEASON

The wet season has been pretty good up here this month, sunny days mixed with some big thunderstorms.

It should all only get better as the ferry and the road are opening, and looking at the bookings, it looks like the 2021 season will be a big one :-)

PRICES UPDATED IN THE DESTINATION GUIDE

April is the month I do the yearly updates of all of the prices in the Destination Guide.

I cannot do it with the January updates, because most of the local Cape York businesses only decide on their prices for the year in the end of the wet season.

destination cape yorkAll was done, like always, by ringing, first hand, not copied from second hand information.

Most prices had gone up a bit, some also stayed the same or gone down due to COVID. There is also some room for error as some could still change - it's hard to get it 100% right, but I tried to do it as close as possible.

Out of the rest, as little as possible was changed, making sure you don't have to reprint it.

If you already have the Guide (if bought within the last two years), the updated version is included in the price. Just give me an email and I will send you the latest version (be patient please if you don't get a really quick reply - I will have a lot of people asking).

If you don't have the Guide yet - it's the last updates to the Destination Cape York Travel Guide for this year - a great time to buy - there will be no more changes until January 2022 :-)

FEEDBACK ALWAYS WELCOME

I really appreciate any kind of feedback on the Destination Guide.

Please let me know if you enjoyed it while planning before the trip, and while using the information once on the trip.

If you get any questions about anything, please feel welcome to contact me.

That's all for this time - happy planning, and happy travels to those on the road!!

Have a great day :-)

Katrin.

P.S. If you cannot see the photo banner in the top of this page, instead of photos you only see photo texts, and instead of links you see url addresses throughout the text, you are using email software that only reads text. Consider getting an email account with Yahoo or others that can read HTML (and remember to change your email address, which can be done in the end of every newsletter.
