THE SEASON AND THE ROAD
We are in the peak of the tourist season, which is always the case during the June - July school holidays.
Sorry that some wrong-doers have made this needing a mention: These newsletters are

Streets and shops are crowded, and lines are building at the ferry crossing even without the lunch hour this time of the year.
Yes - no ferry closure during the lunch hour, plus one more opening hour in the beginning and in the end of the day! So during this tourist season they trial having the ferry open 7am - 6pm and not closing for the lunch - and we love it :-)
The rest of the road - has not been fully graded but has been patched up.
There are better and worse sections, and Coen to Archer is still the roughest part.
Dips can be rough, some creeks in the bottom of the dips still have some water in.
Some washout holes have now been fixed like the one that was on the Southern Bypass.
Northern Bypass is still better than the Southern one.
And all this will gradually get worse and more corrugated with the continuing traffic, until they grade it.
The southern half of the park has already opened, and that includes the following campsites: Melaleuca Waterhole, Hanush’s Waterhole, Hann Crossing, Welcome Waterhole, Horseshoe Lagoon, Old Laura Homestead, Six Mile Waterhole, Twelve
Mile Lagoon (except sites sites 7 and 8), Kennedy Bend, Old Faithful Waterhole, Dingo Waterhole, Mick Fienn Waterhole and Kalpowar Crossing.
The northern half of the Lakefield National Park will open on 15. July, and that includes the following camping sites: Orange Plain Waterhole, Bottom Whiphandle Waterhole, Top Whiphandle Waterhole, Basin Hole, Brown Creek,
Seven Mile, Five Mile Creek, Annie River, Sweetwater Lake, Saltwater Crossing and Midway Waterhole.
This month's events to come are Mareeba Rodeo, Cooktown Hog Hunt, Mossman Show and Chillagoe Festival.
In case you have an older version of the full Destination Guide that you bought within the last two years (as the Doggie Guide is only in there since 2017, the Caravan Guide since 2018 and the Trailer Guide since 2019 - if you want to get any of these), or if you simply have not updated your Destination Guide - you better travel with the latest one, so let me know and I will send you the latest version :-)
FEEDBACK ALWAYS WELCOME
I really appreciate any kind of feedback on the Destination Guide.
Please let me know if you enjoyed it while planning before the trip, and while using the information once on the trip.
If you get any questions about anything, please feel welcome to contact me.
That's all for this time - happy planning, and happy travels to those on the road!!
Have a great day :-)
