ROAD
REPORT
So from my
latest drive from Cairns to Bamaga: Laura to Lukin River was pretty
much the worst part of the road, with corrugations
and dust holes.

Lukin to Coen was better,
there were road works south of Coen which took some time to
get through.

Coen to Archer
was bumpy, hilly as always, corrugations and dust holes -
definitely second worst
after the southern part.

Archer to Bamaga turnoff
- excellent as always and mostly sealed (there was some
road work north of Archer).

Bamaga turnoff to
Bramwell - excellent, there are only one or two creek
crossings
still that you need to slow down for.

North of Bramwell - Southern
Bypass Road - fairly good, some corrugation in the bends.

Northern Bypass not so
good, more corrugated, particularly towards the
northern end.

OYALA
THUMOTANG IS OPENING
Oyala Thumotang National Park is opening and the following camping
areas are already open for the season: Jerry Lagoon, Twin
Lagoons One, Twin Lagoons Two, Ten Mile Junction, Old Archer Crossing,
Mango Lagoon One, Mango Lagoon Two, First Coen River, Second Coen
River, and Chong Swamp.

And the following
Camping areas are not opened quite yet but should open soon:
Vardons Lagoon, Governors Waterhole and Horsetailer Waterhole, which
are the ones in the most western, remotest parts.
BATHURST
HEAD UPDATES
So the Bathurst
Head updates.
What they said to me they
are not ready with their booking system.
They have said that there will be one established in the next couple of
weeks, they weren't able to give a definitive date but suggested that by the
1st of August this year it should be operational.
