Cape York News #051 - Jardine Ford Closed, Weather Warming Up, Rentals Info in the Destination Guide
October 01, 2016

Hi everyone,

The weather is warming up here, and the tourist season is calming.

People might have been a little cheeky crossing the Jardine this very dry year - could be why there now are closure signs at the Old Ford crossing.

And finally, the info on the 4WD rental companies, and most importantly - which ones don't ban you from the most fun tracks - is now in the Destination Guide.

In This Issue

• Signs at Jardine Ford

• Weather, Season and Events

• Rental Company Info in the Destination Guide

• Feedback Always Welcome

After a very dry year, with an almost non-existent Wet Season, the creeks and rivers, and the water levels at all the crossings have been very low this year.

Making it easy to tackle the Jardine River, which may have resulted in more people doing it than on a normal year - it might be why there now are closure signs at the Old Ford crossing.

It says that "this former Jardine River crossing is closed", and you might like to be aware that the signs are there when planning your trip for the next season.

Meanwhile, this year's tourist season is calming down and the weather is getting hotter, and the prediction is that this year will have an early and heavy Wet Season

This weekend, there is the popular Wallaby Creek Festival in Rossville, right in the end of the September school holidays, after which the season's tourist traffic always drops, and we will officially be in the Low Season.

And last but not least - due to lots of questions about renting a vehicle, and particularly the fact that most companies actually ban you from the most fun tracks - the info about which ones allow you the fun - is now in the Destination Guide.

Of course along with all other detailed info about everything else on the peninsula :-)

Like always with all the updates and added info, there is no need to buy again if you already have the Guide.

All you need to do is go back to your original purchase confirmation email and download again (if you like, because nothing else was updated this time).

There are five downloads in there, and should you run out or get any other problems, just give me an email and I will help you :-)

I really appreciate any kind of feedback on the Destination Guide.

Please let me know if you enjoyed it while planning before the trip, and while using the information once on the trip.

If you get any questions about anything, please feel welcome to contact me.

That's all for this time - happy planning, and happy travels to those on the road!!

Have a great day :-)
