Cape York News #042 - The 2016 Destination Cape York Travel Guide Is Out
January 09, 2016

Hi everyone,

The 2016 edition of the Destination Guide is finally out :-)

After months of hard work updating it, I just feel too exhausted to say much more.

But I know that many people have been waiting, so the news needs to get out there - sorry if you are one of the people who are not interested, that I sent you a newsletter with no more news than that - I don't do that often.

DESTINATION GUIDE 2016 IS OUT

So finally, after a long couple of months of updating every single detail, the 2016 version of the Destination Guide is out :-)

There are some new tracks - Kondiparinga and Fairview/Palmerville, and I have added to others, including places like Stones Crossing, Crab Island; Turtle Camp, the Jackey Jackey and Escape River area; and some tracks in the Northern Peninsula Area (I didn't get to do quite as many different tracks this year as I would have liked, because of the changes in my personal life - but I am so ready for the coming season !! :-).

Also all the info including permits, alcohol restrictions, events, national park openings, rubbish tips, and FREE camping spots were reviewed and updated, and maps were added and improved. All the emergency numbers went to the start of the book, including local police stations and hospitals; where to ring for vehicle recovery, flood and cyclone emergencies, and Royal Flying Doctors' Service.

And last but not least - for the Guys ... vehicle spares, accessories and tools to bring; the most important bog recovery gear to bring, in the order of importance and explained; and even tips on crossing the Jardine River at the Old Ford - all by Mark O'Hagan - the Old Telegraph Track vehicle recovery guy and my new partner.

And - much, much more :-) The whole list is on the Destination Guide page, and even that does not cover just how much is actually in that guide.

So if you have been waiting, get your copy now, and even if you haven't, you might like to get one :-)
