PENINSULA DEVELOPMENTAL ROAD IS GETTING IMPASSABLE

While we have enjoyed mostly cloudless skies and sunny weather in the Northern Peninsula Area, further down the peninsula it has rained more.

The Daintree and Lakefield National Park areas have had a fair bit of rain, and Little Laura River got flooded a couple of days before the New Year's Eve.

It is not a time to travel but locals still need to get around, and so people have been stuck, waiting for days for the flood waters to go down.

The PDR itself is also getting wet, slippery and chopped up, shows a video by Greg Peet and his family - some of the Weipa guys who were stuck behind the river.

The video is taken near Hann River Roadhouse on their way home, and according to Greg the road was sometimes even worse.

It is a reminder that it is not a good time of the year to come for a trip, as these kinds of conditions will now continue (on and off from one place to another) throughout the Wet Season, even along the main roads.
