Hi everyone,

CREB Track is finally open for the season - it was a long wait!

Also, the only camping ground along the track is no longer a national parks camping ground.

CREB TRACK IS OPEN

The wait for the CREB Track to open for the season is always a long one, and this year was no different.

The wait is finally over, the CREB is now officially open for the season, so get out there and do it before it closes again ;-)

I am exaggerating a bit, but there is truth in there - it does get closed again throughout the dry season, every time it rains enough, because it is steep and gets dangerous when slippery.

Here is where you can check at any point of time whether the CREB is open or closed: http://douglas.qld.gov.au/road-conditions/creb-track/

The Cairns Regional Council web page gets updated quickly if there are any changes.

CHANGED CAMPING CONDITIONS ON CREB TRACK

As you know from the Destination Guide, there is only one official camping ground along the CREB Track - at Kija, also called Roaring Meg Falls.

There is a camp ground that used to belong to the National Parks, but now that the land has gone back to the local Aboriginal People, you have to make a booking with them.

The Destination Guide has been updated on that (including the contact details, see page 155), and other bits and pieces. The Index and the Table of Contents have also been fixed up and updated. You know that you can always get the latest version of the Guide by revisiting your original confirmation email and downloading the guide again. Don't delete that message when buying - you get five goes, and if you run out, just contact me and I will find your details amongst the book owners and send you the guide. You know when it may be worth getting a new version - I mention any reasonably big changes in the newsletters.

FEEDBACK ALWAYS WELCOME

I really appreciate any kind of feedback on the Destination Guide.

Please let me know if you enjoyed it while planning before the trip, and while using the information once on the trip.

If you get any questions about anything, please feel welcome to contact me.

That's all for this time - happy planning, and happy travelling if you are on the tracks!!

Have a great day :-)

Katrin
