Hi everyone,
Just a cyclone update. Not sure
how much you all get of our cyclone news, but there are people who are
planning to travel soon and need to know what the weather is doing.
If you travel later in the season you don't need to worry about this,
and sorry to bother you.

LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM FORMS
This afternoon, the predicted low
pressure system formed south of Papua New Guinea.
Cyclone watch was issued for Far North Queensland, with the system expected to turn into a cyclone within the
next 12-24 hours.
It will move west, towards the Cape York Peninsula, and is expected to cross the Cape York coast
some time Wednesday.
Exactly where it will cross is harder to say, but it is currently believed it will be
somewhere near Lockhart River, probably north of it.
It will be a low category cyclone,
most likely category one or maybe a low grade two. Those winds are
usually not too damaging, but would of course be dangerous enough for
anyone camping.
But more than anything, it will bring rain, rain and rain, which is very likely to close even the main roads on
the
peninsula.
I will update this as soon as we know
more.
(P.S. If you haven't yet, please read the climate and weather section
in the FREE
pocket guide for detailed information about our seasons and when is the best time
to travel to Cape York).
