I was a trainee construction manager in the 1970s early period up in Hopevale / Coen and Archer areas and have lost contact with my old mates up there.
We went to Black Mountains and used "the Lions Den" pub as our central core stay as some travelled to Weipa that way we survived on mass bar meals and had 4 Toyota utes and a banged up Mercedes.
We bought massive materials up via D12 dozers in flood times and opened up pencil cedar sales (via QLD Forestry selections processes) to new (a few cashew farmers) up there.
For housing most things door frames roofing etc we shipped from Sydney Harbour we got off Cooktown wharf.
We featured in helping the ABC in the Bi Centenary celebrations in June 1970 we did many more things but the memory fades..
